The grade 2-4 students had a busy day exploring Port Carling. We started the day with local gardener Reed Curry where we learned about growing vegetables, chickens, and composting. We visited the museum where we had the chance to play some pioneer games and see a pioneer log cabin. From there we went to the Muskoka Lakes Library where students built a Lego pioneer village and did an aboriginal pioneer craft. We then went to Hanna Park for a BBQ lunch and play. We wrapped up the day with a cemetery study. A huge thank-you to Reed, the museum, Cathy, Lorna, and Nancy at the library, and Jen Stephen for supplying the BBQ lunch. Thanks also to our parent volunteers! More pictures to follow.
