Dear TLDSB parents/guardians,
With the winter months approaching, we wanted to reach out to share the Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) procedure and the communication channels with you for inclement weather days.
TLDSB takes a zone approach which means that on inclement weather days, the Board will communicate which zone(s) are impacted by transportation cancellations. If transportation is cancelled in one or more specified zone(s) due to inclement weather, no buses will travel to any schools within the cancelled zone, however, schools within the affected zone(s) will remain open and learning opportunities will continue. Parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation of their students who attend school on inclement weather days. Drop-off and pick-up must occur in alignment with the regular school day start and end times.
In some circumstances, where extreme weather or other facility situations require a school or multiple schools to be closed, the TLDSB community will be notified as soon as possible via the usual communication channels.
How is the decision made?
Bus transportation may be cancelled during inclement weather or due to the forecast of poor or deteriorating road conditions. The decision whether or not transportation will be cancelled is made in consultation with transportation operators taking into consideration existing road conditions, weather conditions as reported by Environment Canada, and any other information available at the time the decision has to be made.
Route specific information
Route specific notifications are sent out when a bus is delayed by 15 minutes or more and/or cancelled. Therefore, it is recommended that parents/guardians subscribe to receive transportation notifications by visiting mybustoschool.ca and following the instructions below:
