Labour Relations Update: November 17

Dear TLDSB families,

As negotiations continue between the government of Ontario and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), we wanted to let you know that should a strike action (full withdrawal of services) take place on Monday, November 21, all Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) schools will move to synchronous remote (online teacher-led instruction) learning until further notice.

In preparation for a potential strike, your child(ren)’s teacher(s) will be reaching out to ensure students are prepared for synchronous learning. For students who do not have access to a computer, schools will be signing out the school’s inventory of technology upon request. For students who do not have access to the internet, please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher directly to make alternative arrangements for the continuation of learning.

Full day child care programs located in TLDSB schools for children 0-4 years of age will remain open. EarlyON programs will also remain open.

We will keep you up-to-date on the status of the labour action and send you another update this Sunday, November 20. Please be prepared with alternative arrangements for your child(ren) next week should the strike take place.

Should you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher or school principal.

For all labour updates as they relate to Trillium Lakelands District School Board, visit our Labour Relations Update page.

I am committed to keeping you informed and will share any updates as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

Wes Hahn
Director of Education
